Coach Mike Allan is in his eleventh season with the Gauchos. Throughout his time at UCSB, he has led the team to 3 league championships, 5 MCLA Semifinal appearances, and 2 MCLA National Championships. Allan’s overall record at UCSB is 137 wins and 58 losses.
Before joining the Gauchos in 2004, Coach Allan had a four year stint as the Head Coach at UCLA. Allan also served as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Riptide of Major League Lacrosse from 2006 to 2008. From 2009 to 2011, Coach Allan worked as an assistant coach for NCAA Division 1 Towson University. In 2012, he returned to UCSB and was awarded SLC Coach of the Year.
As a player, Allan was a High School All-America attackman at the Gilman School in Baltimore, Maryland. He was coached by John Tucker, and helped lead his team to the 1994 MIAA Conference Championship. Allan then attended Princeton University where he played for Coach Bill Tierney and was a member of the Tigers’ NCAA National Championship teams in 1996, 1997, and 1998.
Coach Allan lives in Santa Barbara with his wife Katie (UCSB ’06) and daughter Hattie.
Coach Andrew White is in his fourth season with the Gauchos. White primarily coaches the offense and since joining the staff, he has helped lead the team to 3 MCLA Tournament appearances.
White is also in his fourth year as Head Coach for the Santa Barbara City College Men’s Lacrosse team and second year as Head Coach for the Santa Barbara High School Boys’ Lacrosse team. He also helps manage and coach the Santa Barbara Lacrosse Club, a local organization of High School and Youth Club teams in Santa Barbara.
As a player, White was a High School All-America Attackman at Loyola Blakefield in Baltimore, Maryland. He was coached by John Tucker and helped lead his team to win the 2001 MIAA Conference Championship. White then attended Ohio State University where he played for the Buckeyes and Coach Joe Breschi. White then attended Stevenson University in Baltimore, MD where he played for Coach Paul Cantabene and was a Team Captain, First Team All-Conference Selection, and Team MVP.
Coach Firouzan is in his second season with the Gauchos. During his first year as an assistant, he helped lead the Gauchos to an MCLA Tournament appearance.
As a player, Firouzan was a two-time All-American Attackman and two-time Captain at Mt. Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He helped lead the Blue Devils to 3 WPIAL championships. Firouzan then attended Gettysburg College, where he played for one of the most successful college lacrosse coaches in NCAA history, Hank Janczyk. At Gettysburg, Firouzan was a two-time captain, three-time All-American, and Scholar All-American Midfielder. During his senior season, he helped lead the Bullets to a school record 20-1 season including a Centennial Conference Championship and an appearance in the National Semifinal.
Firouzan was also a member of the Republic of Turkey’s inaugural FIL World Lacrosse Games appearance in Denver in 2014.
